EC4, being the first die-cast offering in the industry, aims to revolutionize the making of a flashlight.

Die-cast unibody construction
Die casting is a casting method by injecting molten aluminum under high pressure into mold cavity, which involves no separate parts welded or fastened together. This means the EC4 has the highest level of structural integrity. With the head and the tube being an integral whole, EC4 consists of two parts: the body and the rear lock, a unibody construction.

Perfect heat sink
The most incredible thing about the die-cast unibody construction is that it gives EC4 the best heat sink that you could imagine in a flashlight. The seamless structure ensures heat generated by the working LED is delivered evenly and rapidly to the overall surface. The cooling fins engineered in a vertical direction (a novel and ingenious design) ensure the EC4 has a larger cooling exterior. You can use this light in high output for long hours without burning your hands. It’s warm, but never hot. In fact, it feels so comfortable that you can use it as a hand warmer in cold weather.

Compact and lightweight
The die-cast unibody construction of EC4 needs no redundant elements except for the glass, LED, reflector, regulation circuit board and the rear lock. There is no battery compartment or fasteners between the head and the tube. This means that EC4 has the most compact size and the lightest weight, which is beyond the capabilities of any conventional process.

Overall the build of the light is excellent. It's really comfortable to hold. The lens is very clear and the reflector is super smooth. The brightness seems to be on par with other 1,000 lumen lights that I compared it to. The only problem I have with this light is the amount of throw it produces. Per Nitecore it is supposed to have a beam distance of 322 meters but I really don't see that happening. I'd say maybe 200 at the most. I have a cheaper XinTD C8 V5 with an XM-L2 U3 that out throws this light by a good distance. I think my expectations were maybe a little too high, but overall it's a nice light. All of my 18650 batteries seem to fit snugly with the exception of flat top cells. The light worked but the cells rattled, the light never lost connection though. If one were to elongate the springs it would probably stop the rattle if you wanted to use flat tops. The holster is decent, there's a lot of room in there for the light to move around, I would have preferred a more snug fit. However, it does have a velcro quick attach and release for your belt, which is always nice. This is my first Nitecore light, I am impressed in the quality of the light itself, just not in the amount of throw. As always, Andrew-Amanda.com provided excellent customer service and extremely fast shipping.
