Being the latest member in the TM series, the TM28 is the brightest model aims at the search and rescue segment. Inheriting traits of the TM series, the TM28 maintains product compactness and easy one-handed operation, making it ideal for all outdoor scenarios. Utilising four CREE XHP35 HI LEDs, through the improved driver circuit, the TM28 is capable for a max outburst of 6000 lumens, while maintaining outstanding light intensity. Reflectors array with PDOT incorporated allows for 107200 candelas and beam distance up to 655 metres. Onboard OLED display gives real-time operating information, dual-stage single switch provides quick access to all functionality. 5 brightness level and 3 special modes available to cope with all situations.
In addition to regular 18650 li-ion batteries, the TM28 is compatible with high discharge IMR batteries and the NBP68 HD battery pack, highly energy efficient with max runtime up to 1000 hours, significantly lessens the likelihood of battery shortage.

I've had this light for about a week now. I loved the way this light looked on paper but was apprehensive given the price. When I saw Andrew-Amanda had it on sale I went for it. Glad I did. The more I've used the Tm28, the more it has actually lived up to it's name, which is basically "successor to TM26/26GT". I measured 6,240 lumens in my own light-box setup which was the first positive. Then the light was able to maintain 6,000 lumens all the way down to 3.25V using my Samsung 30Q high drains. OH yeah, TM28 comes with an adapter for all flattop cells effectively killing the need to hunt down the correct high drain that is also button-top. With the majority of "high drain" cells being unprotected flattops, this is an extremely welcome addition from NC. So back to my Samsung 30Q. They maintained 6,000 lumens to 3.25V where turbo cut out. TM28 could still use the lower modes, giving ample time to get back to a charger. From 3.25V the internal charger took just over five hours to recharge all 4 of my 30Q back to 4.2V and did a good job of bringing them back to full 4.2v. This was better than my expectations by a fair measure. Nitecore uses a 4P arrangement which is better for safe charging and less prone to charger failure than a series setup. At 6,000 lumens and 650 meters of throw the TM28 is 2,000 lumens brighter and 200 meters further throw than TM26. This is quite a visible difference on a dark night no mistake. However, the tint is unfortunately only available in cool white at the moment and is still a bit bland looking, maybe even more so than the TM26. Readings for temperature and voltage were very accurate using an external laser thermometer and a multi-meter to check. The time remaining function seems a bit slow to catch up with changes in voltage but this was ok since I get an idea of how much turbo is left by seeing how close to 3.25V with the volt reading. The TM28 got hot as expected. It is only a few minutes before it will step down from turbo but this milage varies dependent on ambient temperature. If it is cold enough outside, the TM28 will stay in turbo much longer as it uses a thermal sensor for stepdown apposed to a timer. However, with a light like this it may also make a lot of sense to simply run in high mode with a switch to turbo for instances when more light is needed. Overall the TM28 does a good job doing what it's supposed to. If it came in neutral white tint and had a bit more palatable MSRP it would be an easy 5 stars. As it stands 4 stars. | |
